Ok so i sent the carb out to get bored it now is 42.5mm i read that the fuel pump can not handle proper fuel flow so i need to go to gravity feed which i am ok with. Is this the best bet? second reading through the service manual 09+ states that the idle should be running about 1700-1800 do you run yours that high? i am so a car guy and that just sounds ridiculous to me but it is what the manual says. you know like the commercial "if it is on the internet it has to be true" i am have that dreaded knock noise so i am pulling the cover plates for the crank nut and hope that really is what it is. any opinions given is greatly appreciated guy

oh just in case 2011 outlaw 525 irs

I ride KTMs which are all gravity fed.  The early KTM-powered Outlaws were also.  I'm not a fan of Polaris' vacuum fuel pump, and will not be running it on my Predator project, that's for sure.  I'd go gravity fed.

I usually set the idle just a tick under 2000.

The tough part with the Outlaw is installing the petcock in the bottom of the tank. I can be done though. I went this route last year and it works great.

I was kinda forced to do it. Picked up bored and built carb that came off a KTM. Those carbs don't have the vacuum fitting to run the fuel pump. I've personally never heard that the fuel pump wouldn't keep up, but I do like it better with the pump eliminated, one less thing to worry about or to have to guess whether it is putting out like it should or not, plus it really cleans things  up under the tank without the extra hoses running through there. Really glad I did it.
