Was riding one day and it randomly stalled then wouldn't stay running. Has hmf pipe and after market air box. Starts and then I give it half throttle it Boggs then even if I let off it just stalls. Was thinking it was the carb but figured I'd ask before taking apart.

I would start with the carb take it off to clean it real good and see if the needle came loose or something. Then check for cracks in the head to carb boot.

Already getting mentally prepared for the dune trip I see. Think we might need a bigger grill this time.

Took carb apart, was clean but needle came apart. Fixed and back in it went. Now try to start it and it stalls. I'm not sure if it's from being too cold or what. It started a few times with the choke then would stall and I managed to get it started without choke run for a minute or two then would stall again. The battery is dead so was jumping it and when it stalled I'd have to rehook up everything. I assume it's because the battery just wasn't charging from not being on long enough. There is black in the exhaust end and a flame shoots out sometimes just a little one. Not sure if that could be the issue either? It's about 10 degrees here if not colder at the moment. This things about to get sold way under price and I'm going to become a Yamaha person if this doesn't fix soon!

If you want to enjoy your quad on a regular basis, take the carb off, take good aim, throw it rapidly into garbage recepticle, close lid, get on E-bay, search for 04'-05' FCR carbs,Pay-Pal your $125-150 for carb and rebuild,buy a dial-a-jet & new hoses/filter while there, if you have the $coots, try for a Yamaha YZF/YFZ 450, these are a little more compact than the Honda 450r carbs, there are a few things you have to get/modify, like a new cable or throttle, rear facing fuel petcock, minor grinding on motor mount,make a mount for remote idle adj. This is the ALL-AROUND BEST best mod you can do to your FUJI for under $200 period. I now have easier more reliable starts, way better performance, and an all around better riding experience. All other brands have these carbs stock on there bikes, and in my opinion those CV carbs are the root of alot of the pesky starting issues these quads seem to have, cause I dont have those problems anymore!That CV carb was dirty inside every time I took it off, which was alot!!

I know of that mod but I don't have time or money for it and my carb seems to be fine when I took it off

is the throttle cable tight if it is it could be the safety switch in the thumb throttle. there needs to be a good 1/8+ slack int he throttle cable or it will kill the engine.

i am not sure what to suggest. just start from square one. check all grounds and leads make sure all connections are clean and tight. check valve clearances, then check spark fuel air compression and timing.

How do you check timing? I'm hoping it's just from the cold. What would cause the black stuff in the exhaust? That normal?

black stuff in exhaust could just be a little rich or condensation. checking timing is a matter of lining up the links getting it to top dead center and checking the timing mark in the site hole on the stator cover.

Awesome I'll give it a try when it warms up more. Is running a little rich like that a bad thing? I was one jet down but it would bog til I had it in this jet size.
