Hi guys

Following my timing chain change, I'm now getting a very slight leak from in between my crank cases right at the bottom centre of the motor.

Any idea what could cause this? Any of the clutch case cover bolts hold the cases together? Really really slow leak and not impacting performance, just a nuisance as it leaks while being stored.

man i think that is just a weird coincidence. i do not think it could be a clutch bolt causing a leak from the cases. unless it just looks like it is from the cases and it is running down from the clutch cover.

Thanks Leo. It's really bizarre, never once has it dripped oil since I've got it, and it's definitely coming from under the cases right in the middle. Started as soon as the clutch cover went back on.

Presume there are no bolts that go the far through the casings?

i sure don't think so it has been about 5 or 6 years since i have had a predator clutch on and off but i do not think any of the bolts hold the case together. that is a mystery i have never dealt with.

A few of the bolts are quite long which is why I ask. It's a strange one for me.

Decision is do I leave it? Or break the whole thing down and split the cases?

I would leave it or remove the longer bolts and run them back in and see if that fixes it up.

Personally what I would do is, tip the pred onto the grab bar, get a good dry cloth and clean it real well, then get some brake cleaner and make sure all the craps off, leave it to dry off and then run some gasket sealant right down the gap... if it's not a major leak theirs no need to tear the whole thing down right, so the sealant should stop it making a mess..right? [smile]
