So I'm needing to replace the center carrier bearings in my 07 525IRS.  Need to get the hubs pressed apart to disassemble the carrier.  I see there's a special tool, but its expensive for a (hopefully) one time use.  I have a 12 ton press, how do you set up for doing this?  Any write ups on replacing these big bearings?

Good write-up, I had already found that one.  With the help of a press, torch, and Dremel tool, I got them out.  Not something I would want to do every day.

I definitely recommend upgrading the bearings while you're in there.

My advise is to but the best bearings that you can get your hands on... something not made in China for sure.  Its a time consuming and expensive job, and if you use cheap bearings you'll be doing it again before you know it.

How critical is it to replace the O-Ring that's in there on the splines?  Thing costs 10.99...
