I have had my 525 for awhile now and seems like I cant keep the thing going...  Last year my air filter seal failed and let a bunch of sand in.  I then had a local ktm shop rebuild the top end because it fried my rings.  They said everything else looked fine and I should be good to go.  Before this even happened I was having starting issues.  The thing would roll over once then get stuck as if compression release had failed or starter/relay issues.  I rebuilt the starter replaced the solenoid, no change.  NOW this year I got it out adjusted the valves cleaned air filter etc..  When I went to start it I noticed it wasn't getting stuck anymore! YAY! right? No.  I proceeded to do my oil change and thats when things got interesting.  I found a chunk of what looks like a large reinforced snap ring of some sort?  I got worried, pulled the clutch cover had a look around everything seemed fine.  Then I noticed, instead of getting stuck the starter will free spin then suddenly will grab and turn over the engine.  Its random as to whether or not it grabs but it is working somewhat.  So anyway we had a big group ride planned and I chose to risk it and ride anyway.  The quad ran flawlessly with no bizarre noises of any kind, and I rode it HARD.  I got home and decided I was going to find out what that was from before I rode it again.  Upon draining the oil this time I found a much larger piece to what looks like the same snap ring.  Heres the trouble.  I have studied every drawing available on KTM-Parts.com and I cannot find where this snap ring is???  Does anyone have any ideas?
