Looking at a 2006 troy Lee Edition tonight. never owned a Polaris atv before and after going through the forums I have an idea of what to check out. My question is are the valves similar to the ones I had in my Crf250. Always tightening and needing service? Also what should I be on the look out for? Its pretty cheap $1500 and Im wondering why?

THEY TEND TO NEED A GOOD AMOUNT OF MAINTNANCE BECAUSE ITS A HIGH REV ENGINE BUT NOT TO BAD, I OIL EVERY TEN HOURS AND VALVES 30-50 HRS, ALSO PAID 1500 FOR MINE WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND IT WAS A AN 06

CHECK TIE RODS, BALL JOINTS, WHEEL BEARINGS AXLE BEARINGS, LOOK IN THE AIRBOX TO SEE HOW CLEAN IT IS.. WHEN YOU DRIVE IT CHECK TO SEE IF ITS DARTY, MAKE SURE THE ENGINE SOUNDS GOOD OF COURSE NO WILD SOUNDS ALSO MAKE SURE IT STARTS EASILY AND DONT TAKE A LONG TIME TO START

they are good machines but yes the valves do need to be checked regularly and re shimmed from time to time.
