that is slow. but i will say on my 525 irs. i had a pipe, intake, bored carb, cam, it was a lot faster than a stock one i raced. mostly on the top end i pulled a little each gear but when i hit 5th i really pulled away.

if you are real into knowing go speed by a cop on the highway they will catch up with you and tell you. most likely give it to you in writing.

or for a few bucks cheaper get a little garmin gps they are basically out of date and you can pick them up on ebay for $20 they are perfectly accurate.

If your phone is a Smartphone it uses an accelerometer and GPS, it is accurate, more accurate than any mechanical speedo.

14t with 19" rear wheels and a HMF CS slip on. I do about 75. Max speed on my gps was 73. Not all that fast but i get to the top of my fith gear in a hurry. I'm more into acceleration anyways.

i hit 96.4mph on my banshee the other day but i just want to beat bob. 14/41 gearing he has been talking about that 6th gear for years now. i had to know how it felt. i have a 15 tooth and some 22 inch rear tires in the garage now for later this week. i just want to hit 120mph once. of course if i lose a tie rod at that speed i suppose once is all i will get!

on my 525 irs right before i traded it to redpred, with the stock cam back in and a 14/39 gearing it did 79 on my gps it was on a half mile of blacktop. it ripped right to the rev limiter at like 75 or 76 in the first 500 or 600 feet but if i kept it off the limiter and just kept on it for the rest of the half mile i would hit 79mph

with the previous engine all the same but with a hot cam it did 77mph i think every engine, machine and area is different.

i think with some 15 36 gearing you would let up before you topped out. i do not really ever think i will hit 120 even if i could. i think with the right gearing and some wind deflection your 421 might get a bunch more than 120.

Are you guys doing these speeds on Dirt, or blacktop?

My buddy and I were racing down a gravel road and we were absolutely flat out topped out for a 1/2 mile and a cop stepped out of the brush and shot us with his radar gun.  The speed limit was 25, and YES we were speeding!  lmao!

My quad was 2009 525 IRS.  Stock tires, 15T front sprocket, custom intake, HMF, and tuned to 13.5 A/F.
My buddys quad KTM 525 XC.  15 Tooth, CT full exhaust.

We were both side by side looking at each other thinking man these thing have IDENTICAL top speeds!  The cop showed us the radar and we were only doing 69 MPH.     I ran my Garmin GPS thru that same road a week later and my Garmin said 75-77 MPH.  I'll believe the Cops radar gun I think............

my top speeds are always done on about 1/2 mile of blacktop on my garmin gps. which is deadon with the local cops radar and my speedo in my truck and van.

i know there is always rood for some error on all of them but i think they are usually a lot closer than 69 to 77 8 miles per hour is a big gap.

a gravel road will never give you a full top speed. usually you can get another 5 to 10 mph out of a machine on pavement than gravel but i guess if it was really packed you could get closer to the top speed.

A GPS is only really accurate if it has a clear view of the sky and you need to hold the speed long enough for the GPS to stabilize it's reading as they take samples every few micro seconds.

While riding the sleds thru the woods with heavy tree cover I have had the GPS tell me we had a max sped of 200 - 300 - 400 - 500 - 600 MPH befotre !!!! LOL

My 525 is a short shifting beast. If I hold 5th long enough tho, I might see 70-73mph with my 2.71:1 final and 19" tires. 0 to 60 happens in a few seconds however, and that perfect for me. Its about acceleration IMO. In the woods, my low top speed is reached before you can come out of 3rd. By the time a higher speed machine gets to it potential I'm already around that berm their slowing down for. But I must add, out in the desert is a totally differint story. And if that's where I road I'd be geared differently.

The ktm blows the Fuji out of the water. You pulled on me in every gear but 5th. I just wanted to see how much I could keep up. You rode in your normal riding position and I started to get down low and hug the bike like a crotch rocket, and YOU STILL PULLED AWAY! The ktm with a hmf also sounds godly. Nice deep tone, not like my yappy high pitched yoshi on my fuji.

I wanna race the Yamaha 450 with my Predator when he is done "blowing the doors off" of Felix's Outlaw. LOL

Top end drag race, we will start from a roll to rule out any traction / wheelie issues...........

1 mile long race, black top road, first to the end wins the other guys quad!!

Sound OK to you pumpkin ????

No N2O, No boost, all motor.

What are we, 7 years old, and back on the school play ground??

If he wants to throw in his "cousins" quad in to the mix, I'll be happy to take it, or give him mine if he beats me.

A Yfz?? What the hell is a Yfz? Lol

Yfz better have some extensive motor work done cuz it isn't gunna blow any doors off any machine with a 510 RFS unless it's built. And even with internal modifications it still may get dusted motor to motor. All in fun tho, I'm down to race your "cousins Yfz". Drag, trails, whatever.
Also the article goes on to mention that "the 510 rfs is the lightest, most reliable, and most respected race motor in the world" I understand that this may be an opinion. But it's an opinion backed by facts.

Regardless man. I live to ride. And I'll ride with you and your cuz any day. Let me know. I just love showing off my machine and your challeng gave me a chance to do so.

Lmao! Yea man, I was on it but not really going as hard as I could have. Plus Im still getting use to the short gears. I always over rev and that slows me way down. That second pass I completely missed third but you made up for it when you missed 4th, lol. Good time!

I just did a top speed run on my 08 525 S with stock gearing and hit 76 mph according to the GPS app on my phone, which is very accurate. This was on a paved road. I was actually surprised cause i thought i would be lucky to hit 74 mph. I was thinking of getting a 15t before the test, but now i dont think i will. 76 is good enough lol
